Seoul Layover

Well, after quite a day wrapping up things at home, we are finally through with the big leg of the trip; LAX to Seoul, Korea. United called us around 3 hours before we left to let us know that our flight to LA had been cancelled. Typical for United. Fortunately we had a 4 hour layover in LA, so we booked the next flight out of Denver which was an hour later. We sat at the gate while a united mechanic fixed the crapper for about 35 minutes...we couldnt take off cuz the "shitter's full". We barely made our international connection in LA, they were actually waiting for us and a few others on that flight.
Wow the Asiana 777-200 was amazing. we have never flown anything but coach, but these business class seats will make it hard to go back! Fully reclining to a flat position. You get slippers and dark out masks for sleeping. No DirecTV like Frontier, but they did have a few movies looping for the 12 hour flight. the food was pretty amazing and the liquor and wine was tight. We cant wait for our Singapore Airlines flight which we will catch in about 2 hours at 9am local time. They are supposed to have the best business class seating in the industry.
The First Class lounge in Seoul is pretty amazing as well. a full library of books, showers, massage chairs and a bar. I gotta get off this post and explore it a bit more while jan is in the shower...

Less than 48 hours to go...

Spent the morning brewing an organic IPA and Alt with my brew team for Amgen's Brewfest.  It was a scorcher out today, at least 95 degrees.  It doesn't help to be hanging around in the garage with 2 propane burners rockin' it either.  We wrapped up around 130 and Ed threw down some elk and deer on the grill and we made some amazing fajitas.

Finishing up last minute details for our trip.  Made arrangements to have our lawn (or weed garden as we like to refer to it) mowed while we are out.  Let the neighbors know about the tomatoes and peppers in the garden.  Still need to arrange someone to look after my 3 hop vines that are just going off right now!!  Checked bus schedules to get to the airport on Tuesday, looked into international cell phone rates.  They are anywhere from 1.29 - 3.49/minute.  I think we will just pick up some calling cards once we roll into Singapore on Thursday.  Weighed my pack...less than 14 lbs, including a pair of lightweight hikers (also my only real shoes).  Bringing my Keens and flip flops...just not sure how much action shoes will see.

Dublin spent the day outside with us, just chillin in the front yard.  This is a fairly regular pose for him.

T Minus 3 days

Well,
only 3 days until lift-off.  Singapore Slings are just a mere 72 some odd hours away.  We've spent the day packing...well at least some of us.  One half of "us" spent the day getting a hair cut an color...looking good honey!!

So far, I have packed a single Osprey Talon 33; 1900 cubic inches. I just need to throw in my binocs, camera and headlamp.  I think jan is struggling with a wheeled pack of about 2500 cubic inches.  She is swearing that Europe will not happen to her again.  Her lack of wardrobe for the 2 monthes was absolutely a huge shock to her system.  I was also underdressed, but hey, I am a guy.  Didnt really care all that much.  Not sure there is any room for the green boa and pink cowboy hat though...
